Finally...a sunny day!

Caleb and I braved the chill in the air today to go take a walk to the park. It really was beautiful and makes me look forward to spring being here soon.

We love watching the trucks in our backyard!

We had to touch everything on our way to the playground. This was one of the few things I actually let him touch though. Old orange peels and cigarette butts were a no-no. :)

A Cake Walk

I wish this video was a little bit closer, but you get the idea. Basically, we went to family fun night at Gabe's elementary school this weekend. The whole time, we were encouraging Caleb to get down and walk around on his own, but he just wasn't feeling it. We were approaching nap time, so he was a bit clingy. Just as we were about to leave, we stopped by the music room to get his coat and hat. They had the cake walk going on in Gabe's room, so we stopped to watch the kids playing. I guess that's all that Caleb needed, because he wiggled his way down from my hip and just walked into the middle of the circle and plopped down. And he just sat there, watching. He is definitely not his mother's son, because I would have never done that, nor would I do that to this day. Talk about being the center of attention. You can kind of see him rockin' out to the music if you look close enough. After about 2 rounds of the cake walk, he got up and walked over to us like "okay, I'm done now. We can go." He never ceases to make me laugh, that's for sure.

P.S. They're playing 867-5309 (The Jenny Song) in the background. How's that for coincidence?

My friend Jenny

I have a wonderful friend named Jenny. Well, actually, I have many friends named Jenny (alternate spellings include Jennie) due to the many baby girls born in and around 1979 and 1980. :) But this weekend, I was able to spend a very enjoyable 4 hours (almost 5) with my friend Jenny.

We went down to Highland to visit the folks this weekend. We don't often go down without plans for the whole entire weekend, but I actually had Saturday afternoon completely empty. So I asked Jenny if she wanted to go to lunch. We hit Mazzio's for a pizza and pop (or soda, if you will) and literally sat in that booth for 4 hours. In the restaurant biz, that's called "growing roots" and if you're a waitress, you hate people who grow roots. But we didn't care. We just sat there solving all of the worlds problems, talked too much about Facebook, everyone we know in Highland, and just simply catching up.

Jenny is one of my oldest friends from, I think, junior high. By high school, we were pretty much inseparable. At one time, we kept a list on my parents refrigerator for every time Jenny came over - I think we had to stop somewhere in 1996 when we ran out of room, but didn't want to erase it.

Thanks for the great afternoon chat, Jen! It was so lovely to see you. You really are a blessing to me! I hope we can try and make it a ritual! Maybe we'll have to start a new fridge count!

Out for the Count

We've been a little under the weather at the Myers' household. I came home on Thursday evening (late, but that's another story in and of itself) to find a very sleepy and cranky little boy. We put him to bed about an hour before his bedtime literally in the clothes he had on. He didn't seem to mind, as he slept 13 hours that night. When I got him out of bed on Friday morning, he had a temp over 100 degrees. Long story short, he battled a temperature all weekend. However, by Monday he was doing better. You could tell it by the way he wanted to get down and play (finally!). However, I was a little overconfident, because after the fever subsided, he now has the sniffles, a bit of a cough and a strange little rash on his torso, neck and a little on his face. I called the doc, but they said it was all related to the virus running through his system. So we wait.
My other boy has been sick as well. Gabe has been struggling with sinus stuff all weekend. The nice weather is great, but if you're a sinus sufferer, you know that it's awful when the weather fluctuates like this. He also came home from school last night with a bloodshot eye. He's currently at the doctor, as the school nurse told him it was probably pink eye. Hooray.

Please send anti-bacterial handwash c/o of Laura Myers, Normal IL. :)
