It was a big day in the Myers' household today...Caleb (finally) crawled!! I don't know if he finally got sick of going nowhere or if Gabe's CDs were just too enticing, but he did it. I was dutifully ironing shirts (in very stereotypical stay-at-home mother fashion) watching Caleb play with his toys on the floor, when he just started to shimmy up to the CDs that are sitting on the little shelf on our entertainment center. He has played with these before - being seated too closely by his absent-minded parents - and we have promptly moved him to play with other toys that don't require alphabetizing (we're anal-retentive, what can I say). But I guess those shiny cases of plastic were just too much for his curious little mind. I was ecstatic! I quickly grabbed the video camera and moved him a few feet away from the CDs to see if he would do it again. After a few minutes of rebellion and whining that I had moved him away from his new-found fun, he army-crawled right back up to the shelf. I think he pulled every last CD out.
It was a good day for him to start crawling too, because he had an otherwise very crabby day. If it hadn't been for that excitement, I might not have met Gabe with a smile on my face when he got home. I think, however, that this is just how Caleb works. I recall with great fondness the first day he really smiled. He was 5 weeks old and it was the first day that Gabe went back to work. If that little stinker hadn't given me that big toothless grin, I might have lost it. I'm pretty sure we had 3 poop-splosions all within the first 5 hours of the day, and the first ended with poop on the wall. Yes, poop on the wall. Ah, the things we do for love.

That made me crack up out loud! Don't you love being a mom?
Way to go, Caleb!
Ahh, we need to see the video! And that makes our play times even more interesting!
